How to pack your young kid's lunch or snack box
Before we know it, it will be back-to-school time again! But if you've been lucky enough to score some camp time for your child, you may be encountering this hurdle: you have to pack what seems like tons of snacks or a lunch each morning before you send them on their way.
And because there may be no other meal or snack options, you have to make sure it's things they'll actually eat.
After a little trial and error and what feels like a million stressful mornings, I finally landed on a formula for stuffing these Bento boxes for the preschooler and the elementary school aged kid that:
1) meet the rules of camps and schools
2) ensure my kids will eat something and not come home cranky (or worse, LOSE IT at camp or school)
3) is something anyone in the house could follow if I could not be the resident "meal maker."
Unsure what to pack for snack or lunch for your children ages 0-8? With this cheat sheet, you can load up the bento box or lunch bag and add fun variety to your child's meals. Heck, you might even not be bored.
You can share this with another caregiver who may not put together lunches as often either. I created a much lower-key version of this cheat sheet when I was preparing to go on a business trip so that my husband could slide into my place without missing a beat.
Each column of this cheat sheet is based off of my own kids' preferences, plus the things I think are important health-wise, such as protein.
Depending on the health needs and age of your child, you may want to increase or decrease the amount of food. For instance, you might want to choose one food from ALL of the columns for an older child (approximately ages 6 and up).
But I believe this is a really great place to start. Once you run through it a few times, you may even come up with some great ways to modify it for your family!
