2021: The year of let's do it

Let's be clear: 2020 really did a number on us.

It doesn't matter who you were or what you did, the year forced you to confront SOMETHING big, complicated or life changing. With all the constant pivots I've found myself making in the past few months (a change in jobs and teams, a constant guessing game about when kids will be in school and when they won't, trying to retool any sort of traditionally in-person gathering to a virtual one) there was something that kept gnawing at me. When I'd read my 15th article on new year's resolutions, I finally decided: this is the year I'm going to let go of fear. This is the year I'm going to try all the things I've wanted to try.

Of course, I'm going to keep wearing my mask and socially distancing. And I won't be flying to Mexico any time soon. But I'm going to do the things I'm safely able to do. That's why I ultimately decided to start this blog and my own online apparel shop on Teespring.

Honestly, I needed a creative outlet for all of my ideas. And for years, I've had friends and colleagues tell me they thought I would have started my own business by now. In truth, part of the delay has been dealing with two small children and all the housework, school functions and developmental crises that go along with it. I fail sometimes, but MOST of the time, I can find some humor in the situation and I'm hoping to infuse some of that into my line.

I'll also be launching a weekly newsletter with some humorous tips for handling our busy lives. Because I'm a woman and a mom, you'll find a lot of parenting tales and boss lady energy there but really, it will be for anyone in need of a boost.
